Our story

We – Johann and Bettina – grew up the same small village in North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany). We both come from Christian families, where we were introduced to the stories of the Bible at an early age. As children, we gave our lives to Jesus at children's camps – a first step on a journey that is much greater than we could have imagined at the time.

The childlike faith we had at the beginning developed over the years into a deep, personal, and life-changing relationship with Jesus. Our wedding in March 2018 marked not only the beginning of our life together, but also a new step in our discipleship: we moved to Switzerland—and looking back, this move was more than just a change of location. It was a spiritual turning point. God's working challenged our faith and changed our lives forever.

Another key point was our sabbatical in Costa Rica—a time that led us right into the heart of the gospel. We knew what the gospel meant in theory, but over there it suddenly became personal. Really personal. Questions that had previously sounded purely theological became existential:

What is the significance of the Gospel for my life? What is true discipleship? How high was the price Jesus paid—and what does it truly mean to be a child of God? Does eternal life begin only after death, or does it begin here and now?

The Holy Spirit began to renew our minds. And we found answers—not in concepts, but in the living Word of God. During this time, we made a clear decision: God's voice must have the highest priority in our lives.

When we got back to Switzerland, it quickly became clear that our time there was over. Our time as youth leaders was also coming to an end. A new calling became louder—a new path opened up: a Bible college in Colorado, USA.

With a one-way ticket, an open heart, and no specific plan for what would happen next, we set off. We only knew one thing: wherever God leads us, that's where we want to be.

After two years of intense study, deep fellowship, and spiritual growth, we thought our time in the US was coming to an end. But God showed us once again that what seems logical is not always His next step.

We now reside with our small family in rural Wisconsin, actively involved in establishing a new church community. The journey here was not always evident. Some decisions felt risky. However, we have experienced that God is faithful. Always. Even when we cannot see the entire road ahead, He leads us, clears obstacles, and opens doors that we could never have pushed open ourselves.

The gospel has not only shaped our lives—it has come alive. From within. And that is exactly what we want to pass on: in genuine discipleship, in everyday life, in relationships, and in service.

And the future? It's definitely going to be awesome.

We've got the perfect navigation system for our lives: God's Word. Even if we don't know every step ahead, we know the ending for sure. And it's better than we could ever imagine.

We're already living from this ending—with every decision, every step of faith, and every interaction. We can already be part of what remains: God's kingdom—visible and alive in the middle of everyday life.
